This week we, at Stanford Chiropractic Center, are going to be discussing the power of orthotics and how they positively affect your chiropractic care.

Is Your Base Balanced?

It is true that all strong structures must first start off with a balanced and healthy foundation. Although feet may sometimes not get the recognition as they deserve, your feet play a grand role in your overall health! Just like the foundation of a house, your feet support the weight of everything above them. When a problem develops in your feet, it may cause subtle changes or imbalances which may lead to a chain reaction of postural misalignments. These changes can put stress on joints higher up in your body, and lead to more serious problems.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics look like insoles, but are actually biomechanical medical appliances, that are custom-made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Orthotics work on your feet like glasses work on your eyes, they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into alignment. Orthotics are made from imprints of your feet and fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole.

The Foot to Spine Connection?

Orthotics help reduce pain and discomfort by enhancing your body’s natural movements, and helping restore normal alignment of your body by gently correcting foot abnormalities. You may experience a marked decrease in the muscle strain and pains in your ankles, knees, hips and spine. Orthotics truly support the overall experience of your chiropractic care and add to your general health, no matter where your feet may take you in the future!

Ask Dr. Gavin whether you would benefit by including custom orthotics as part of your Chiropractic care.
